Great episode – and more so, excellent podcast!

As an administrator who’s mostly been working solo for a small business, I find it so refreshing and helpful to hear the valuable insights of others, whether technical or not. I found that this particular episode hit me in a good way – as it validated the pro’s and con’s in working within a VAR/MSP environment. I was totally able to relate with some of the frustrations and rewards working in an MSP environment – and hearing more than a couple times that the social aspect of communicating with your customers is just as important as delivering the technical project.

I went from working solo within a small business (15 years) to a local MSP and quickly realized that, although I loved the technology aspect, I loathed the fact that I did not have control of my daily schedule, the fact that when I had walked into a customer’s site I wanted to do so much more than what was in scope and do it ‘the right way’ – then realizing the fact that you’re really there to bill the customer accordingly and have their account rep up sell any other sub tasks or tweaks to the customer.

I personally believe that, had I started within an MSP environment earlier in my career, I would have thoroughly enjoyed climbing the ladder and learning new technologies – but for someone to come around from a static environment to more of a dynamic one – I often found it difficult to adjust ‘shifting gears’ – which I would agree that someone with ADHD, this would be beneficial in an MSP/VAR environment 🙂

Although I am glad to have tried the MSP world for just less than 1 year, I am glad to have realized that working within an organization, for me, was the best fit.

Thank-you so much for the valuable information and insights – keep up the great work guys! 🙂
